The DVS grace period is not granted automatically; you must apply for it through a specific process. To request a grace period, you’ll need to follow a series of steps, which are outlined in the accompanying graphic.
This process ensures that your vehicle meets the necessary safety standards while giving you extra time to comply with the Direct Vision Standard requirements. Be sure to complete all steps accurately to avoid delays in the approval of your grace period
1. Create or Log in to Your Account:
You’ll need a London Road User Charging account to apply.
2. Submit Your Application:
Once logged in, go to the DVS enquiry form and follow the steps. You will need to apply separately for each vehicle you want to include in the grace period.
3. Provide the Required Information:
Your vehicle's Registration Mark (number plate) in the Additional Information section.
Proof of your scheduled installation for the Progressive Safe System, using the form we've provided.
To be eligible for the grace period, your vehicle must hold an active zero, one, or two-star Safety Permit. Without an eligible permit, your application will not be considered.
By following these steps and providing the correct documentation, you can ensure that your vehicle is covered during the grace period, giving you the additional time needed to meet the DVS requirements.
