VUE Tackles Site Safety with JCB

One of the biggest manufacturers of construction equipment in the world have recently launched INTELLISENSE, the future of site safety.

The system uses VUE technology; an AI camera system designed to identify the human form in blind spots around a machine.

Fully integrated with JCB’s LiveLink platform, fleet managers have a single place to view alerts without the need for manual inspection on-sites.

When the system is triggered, the driver is alerted both visually and audibly in-cab in real-time, and the person who triggered the system is alerted externally.

VUE, the Manchester-based video telematics company, have always been pioneers in camera technology for vehicles, and have been leaders in integrating them with AI.

“It’s been on our radar for a few years now” confirmed Glen Mullins, Managing Director of VUE.

“It was first developed for fleet uses such as DVS and FORS, but we quickly realised that there was a huge benefit for plant vehicles too”.

The partnership with JCB has undoubtedly fuelled the development of the technology in construction. INTELLISENSE forms part of JCB’s INTELLITECH range, their machine automation brand designed to innovate and push the boundaries of technology and how it can be used to improve safety and efficiencies in an ever-evolving industry.

“JCB have played a huge part in developing this system” said Felipe Mattar, Head of Construction at VUE.

“Their expertise, standards of quality, and drive for innovation have pushed us to create something quite special, that will hopefully have a significant impact on site safety and the reduction of incidents in the months and years to come.”

And this is just the start. The future of site safety lies in technology, and both VUE and JCB are ready to continue to innovate and develop the technology further.

The possibilities are endless really, which is what makes this project so exciting. We’re working with a business who wants to innovate just as much as we do, and with such a strong partnership based on shared values, I have no doubt that this is just the beginning.

Managing Director at VUE
